New York LDC's, NGA Coordinate Effective Mutual Aid Response in Dutchess County
On September 3rd, 2024, a fire occurred at a natural gas regulator station within the Central Hudson territory in Dutchess County, NY, resulting in nearly 500 gas outages and impacts to electric service. Upon learning of the incident, NGA’s Mutual Aid program was quicky activated, and gas Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) from across the state including Orange & Rockland, Avangrid, National Grid, and Con Edison, convened to coordinate support for relight efforts at the impacted area of East Fishkill.
By 9AM the following morning, 50 mutual assistance technicians and other support personnel had arrived on the scene to support relight efforts, resulting in a quick restoration of service for impacted customers.
NGA applauds the efforts of all responding personnel and all our member LDCs involved in the mutual assistance process. We are grateful for the rapid restoration of service for impacted customers, and that there was no damage to surrounding homes or businesses and no major injuries.
