NGA's Alana Daly Highlights Natural Gas' Role in an Affordable, Reliable Energy Future at NECBC Energy Conference

The Northeast Gas Association was proud to have Vice President of Communications & Public Policy Alana Daly speak at the 2025 New England-Canada Business Council Energy Conference, held November 19–20 in Boston.

Daly participated in a panel on the evolving role of natural gas in meeting growing energy demand. She emphasized that natural gas continues to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy to millions across the Northeast — while significantly driving down emissions. As noted by the New England ISO, the shift to efficient natural gas generation has been the region’s single largest contributor to carbon reductions.

Daly also highlighted New England’s unique infrastructure constraints, which can lead to seasonal price spikes during winter peaks. She underscored the importance of cross-border partnerships and LNG supply in maintaining reliability, while advocating for strategic investments, including planned pipeline enhancements like the upcoming Algonquin system expansion, which can improve affordability and reliability for the region.

“The future of energy isn’t about choosing between affordability, reliability, or climate progress — it’s about achieving all three together,” Daly said.

She closed by stressing the need for continued collaboration across the Northeast and Canada to ensure energy systems remain resilient, innovative, and cost-effective.

NGA thanks the NECBC for hosting this important discussion and looks forward to continued engagement on building a balanced, secure energy future.
