SPOTLIGHT TOPIC:
CISBOT: Advancements in Robotic Gas Main Repair Technology for 12-inch Mains
Tuesday, November 12, 2024
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST
Presented by: ULC Technologies, Inc.
ULC Technologies, a leader in the development and deployment of robotics for utility and infrastructure markets, recently announced the commercialization of its CISBOT internal robotic cast iron joint remediation services for 12” gas mains. This expansion enables ULC to address additional volumes of medium diameter gas mains to support leak response and critical infrastructure upgrades in the US and UK utility markets.
CISBOT is an established robotic technology that enters live cast iron gas mains to internally remediate leaks by injecting a sealant into the joints. Since 2009, this technology has sealed more than 130 miles of 15”-42” diameter mains, extending the life of critical gas infrastructure and reducing the impact of utility work to the public and the environment.
From one small site footprint, CISBOT is launched into the live main to seal over 110 joints with no disruption of gas service to customers. These robots have successfully helped the gas utility industry create a positive impact on methane reduction goals by sealing existing leaks and preventing new leaks from forming for decades to come as well as reducing the number of excavations.
During this session, we will discuss:
- CISBOT Overview
- 12” Robot Development
- 12” CISBOT Operations; entry methods, job site setup/breakdown
- Site selection and project identification
- Benefits for leak response, cost savings, and public impact
- Case studies of completed projects
