NGA Members, President José Costa Named to Massachusetts Energy Transformation Advisory Board

On July 3rd, 2024, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the formation of Energy Transformation Advisory Board to advise the state’s newly established Office of Energy Transformation (OET). The OET has identified three priority focus areas for its work, including:

  • Transitioning Away from Reliance on the Everett Marine Terminal LNG Facility
  • Decarbonizing the Peak
  • Establishing Alternative Mechanisms to Finance the Transition

NGA President and CEO José Costa was named as a stakeholder representative to the Advisory Board. In response to his appointment, Costa stated, “NGA is honored to be part of the Advisory Board to assist and offer recommendations on the strategic direction of the Commonwealth’s energy transformation. NGA and our members are committed to meeting the Commonwealth’s climate goals, while ensuring safe, reliable, and affordable energy for all residents. We believe the natural gas infrastructure can play an important role in this energy transformation. Today natural gas is a primary energy source, in the future, through thoughtful policies, the gas industry and the infrastructure we operate can be utilized for other emerging energy sources. We look forward to working with the Healey-Driscoll administration and serving on the Energy Transformation Advisory Board.”

In addition to Costa, several NGA members have also been named to the Advisory Board, including:

  • Paul Chodak, Executive Vice President and Chief Operation Officer, Eversource Energy
  • Sue Kristjansson, President and Chief Operating Officer, Berkshire Gas
  • Tom Meissner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Unitil Corporation
  • Tatiana Roc, President, Liberty Utilities, Massachusetts
  • Lisa Wieland, President, National Grid, New England
