NGA Emergency Management Committee Hosts Mutual Aid Functional Exercise
On June 25th, the Emergency Management Committee hosted a Mutual Aid Functional Exercise. The exercise simulated a hypothetical emergency in Connecticut resulting in 5,000 Eversource gas customers requiring relights. More than a dozen northeast LDCs joined the exercise, with participants simulating the response to the mutual aid request.
Participants gained significant experience in case of a future real-life emergency, and the exercise highlighted opportunities for improvement and increased learning.
Participants joined from Eversource, Central Hudson, Holyoke Gas & Electric Department, National Grid, Norwich Public Utilities, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Philadelphia Gas Works, Public Service Electric & Gas Company, South Jersey Gas, Unitil, Valley Energy, Village of Hamilton, Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department, and the Northeast Gas Association.
NGA would like to thank all who participated in improving our emergency preparedness. A special thanks to Eversource and the meeting planning team for their diligent work in preparing the exercise.
