The members of NGA’s Public Awareness Committee have completed the Spring Public Awareness Safety Campaign. The campaign wrapped on June 8, 2024.
During the campaign, the public awareness committee and our partners utilized some new techniques to reach a greater audience with our message of pipeline and gas safety, including utilizing QR codes and placing additional emphasis on “Suspect a Leak” messaging to help improve recall.
The campaign was a success, and among the high notes, was delivery of 41% more impressions in the target 35-64 demographic than originally anticipated, significantly exceeding prior year performance. Other highlights of the campaign include:
- Nearly 86% of respondents indicated that they could detect a natural gas leak by smell;
- 8 in 10 respondents remain aware that natural gas pipeline run underground in their communities;
- The campaign significantly exceeded target audience impressions on both broadcast TV, and local TV;
- Digital campaign impressions and interactions both exceeding estimates; and,
- Streaming TV impressions exceeding the goal.
