Earlier this month, NGA launched a new framework developed by the Mutual Assistance Task Force to support the integration of mutual assistance during emergency events.

The framework was designed to provide operators with a logical, comprehensive, and consistent approach for securing and integrating mutual aid resources when responding to emergencies. It is intended to help companies strengthen emergency response planning, support safe and efficient system restoration, and demonstrate due diligence in obtaining the resources needed to restore service to customers.

The framework materials provide a foundation that operators can adapt to reflect their company-specific needs, procedures, and operating environments, while supporting the broader goal of a common industry approach to mutual assistance integration.

NGA appreciates the work of the Task Force and the continued collaboration of members who contributed to this effort. As operators begin using the framework, NGA looks forward to seeing the leading practices, procedures, and tools that emerge from this shared foundation.
