NGA Launches Annual Spring Public Awareness Campaign

The NGA Public Awareness Committee has launched its annual public awareness campaign, focused on promoting natural gas safety and strengthening public understanding of pipeline safety, emergency response, and damage prevention.

This year’s campaign includes messaging about natural gas detectors as an added layer of protection for customers and communities. Television and digital advertising are running across the region in the service territories of participating companies. Platforms include broadcast and cable TV, You Tube, Google display ads, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Amazon Prime, Hulu/Disney.

Participating member companies:

  • Avangrid (CNG and SCG)
  • Berkshire Gas
  • Central Hudson Gas & Electric
  • Con Edison
  • Corning Gas
  • Eversource of CT and MA
  • Liberty (NY and MA)
  • Maine Natural Gas
  • Middleborough E&G
  • National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation (NY and PA)
  • National Grid
  • NYSEG

To better reach diverse audiences, the campaign includes Spanish-language messaging in markets with significant Spanish-speaking populations. Additional translated ads, in Chinese, Portuguese, Haitian, Korean, Polish, and Russian, were also included in areas with high concentrations of those communities.

The media campaign will be followed by a post-awareness survey in all media markets, with results to be shared in July.

Examples of the public awareness campaign are available here and here, with Spanish-language examples available here and here.
