Industry Partner Training: Building Utility Regulatory Expertise for a Changing Energy Landscape

The Center for Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Action (CESAC), in partnership with the New Jersey Utilities Association, will host its Fall 2026 Utility Rate School from September 28 to October 2 in Edison, New Jersey. The five-day program is designed for utility professionals, regulators, consumer advocates, policymakers, and others seeking a deeper understanding of utility regulation and ratemaking.

Participants will explore key topics including utility regulation, rate design, finance, accounting, rate case proceedings, energy analytics, artificial intelligence applications, and emerging industry issues. The program combines expert-led instruction with hands-on learning through a mock rate case simulation, allowing attendees to apply concepts in a practical setting.

The agenda features speakers from regulatory agencies, utilities, academia, and industry organizations, offering diverse perspectives on affordability, reliability, resource planning, and the evolving energy landscape. Discussions will also address emerging challenges such as data center growth, advanced analytics, and stakeholder engagement.

As the energy industry continues to evolve, programs like the CESAC Utility Rate School provide valuable opportunities for professionals to strengthen their technical knowledge, gain practical experience, and build connections across the regulatory and utility community.
