[Government Affairs Committee Chair Mark Kahrer]
Last week, members of the Northeast Gas Association’s Government Affairs Committee had the opportunity to visit New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) for a quarterly committee meeting and facility tour. The visit offered an inside look at NJNG’s continued leadership in advancing innovative, sustainable energy solutions.
As part of the visit, NJNG provided committee members with guided tours of its Carbon Capture and Hydrogen facilities. These tours showcased the company’s ongoing investments in clean energy technologies and its commitment to reducing emissions while maintaining safe, reliable, and affordable service for customers across New Jersey.
A unique highlight of the visit was a look at NJNG’s partnership with CleanO2 Carbon Capture Technologies, which utilizes captured carbon from NJNG’s operations to produce consumer goods—including bars of soap. Attendees were each given a sample to take home, serving as a tangible (and great-smelling) reminder that innovation in sustainability can take many forms.
We extend our sincere thanks to the entire team at New Jersey Natural Gas for hosting us, sharing their expertise, and demonstrating how gas utilities are playing an essential role in the clean energy transition. Special thanks to Mark G. Kahrer, Jerry Ryan, Christopher Chen, and Mary Lou Pardey for their time, insights, and hospitality during the tour.
