What's New

Celebrating The 70th Annual Gas Operations School

More than 700 natural gas industry professionals gathered at Bryant University earlier this month for the 70th Annual Gas Operations School.

For 70 years, Gas Operations School has helped prepare the next generation of industry leaders through technical training, professional development, and peer-to-peer learning. This year's School was another outstanding example of that tradition in action.

As we reflect on a successful week, we want to thank the students, instructors, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and industry leaders who made it possible.

A special thank you goes to our sponsors and exhibitors, whose support helps make this event possible. Their partnership enables us to provide meaningful educational opportunities while showcasing the latest technologies, equipment, and services available to the industry.

We would also like to thank Greg Cornett, President of Rhode Island Energy, for joining us and helping kick off this year's program. His remarks highlighted the importance of the men and women who work throughout the natural gas industry and the critical role they play in safely serving customers every day.

Launching the Utility Business Operations Track

One of the most exciting additions to Gas Operations School this year was the launch of the Utility Business Operations Track. Designed to complement our longstanding technical curriculum, the new track provided students with opportunities to explore topics including utility operations, public policy, ratemaking, affordability and bills, customer issues, and the broader business environment facing today's energy industry.

The strong participation and positive feedback throughout the week demonstrated a clear appetite for this type of programming, and we are excited about the future growth of the track.

New Tech Demos Connect Students with Industry Innovation

Another exciting addition to the 2026 program was the introduction of Tech Demos in the exhibit hall.

These demonstrations gave exhibitors an opportunity to showcase technologies, equipment, and innovations in an interactive setting while allowing students to engage directly with industry experts.

The response exceeded expectations, with students filling sessions Wednesday morning and taking advantage of the opportunity to learn about new tools and emerging technologies that support safe and efficient operations.

The success of the Tech Demos reinforced one of the core strengths of Gas Operations School: bringing together utility professionals and vendors and suppliers all in one place.

Hands-On Learning Remains a Hallmark of Gas Operations School

Classroom instruction remains an important part of Gas Operations School, but hands-on learning continues to be one of the program's defining characteristics.

Industry Tours Offer Unique Learning Opportunities

Students also participated in educational tours throughout the week, providing an up-close look at important facilities and training resources.

Among the highlights were visits to the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and Eversource’s training facility, where participants gained valuable insights into emergency response, safety procedures, customer service, and operational best practices.

Competition, Camaraderie, and Industry Pride

No Gas Operations School would be complete without some friendly competition.

The annual Gas Rodeo once again brought together participants for an evening that showcased skill, teamwork, and professionalism, while providing plenty of opportunities for camaraderie and fun. We extend our thanks to Mulcare for once again making this event a success

The week concluded with another longstanding tradition—the softball game. These networking events continue to be a reminder that Gas Operations School is about more than education. It is about building relationships, strengthening industry connections, and fostering a sense of community among professionals from across the Northeast.

Thank you to the ISCO and Elecnor Hawkeye who supported this great evening.

Looking Ahead

As we close the book on the 70th Gas Operations School, we are reminded that the strength of this program comes from the people who make it possible: the students eager to learn, the instructors willing to teach, the sponsors and exhibitors who support the industry, and the countless volunteers who contribute behind the scenes.

Thank you for making the 70th Gas Operations School a tremendous success.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
